Background
I have worked extensively across Sub-Saharan Africa, collaborating with NGOs, social enterprises and start-ups on a range of education, youth and gender-focused initiatives. Alongside this, I have worked with larger organisations and grant-makers, gaining insight into how programmes are designed, funded and delivered at scale.
This experience has provided an understanding of both locally led organisations and the wider systems in which they operate, including the nuances, expectations and constraints that shape partnerships between local and international actors.
Why NGOs
Locally led NGOs play a critical role in delivering programmes at community level, bringing contextual understanding, trusted relationships and the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs. They are often the organisations closest to the communities they serve.
Yet their work remains underrepresented in programme design, funding and impact discussions, and is shaped by constraints such as short-term funding cycles, complex reporting requirements and limited access to decision-making spaces.
Despite these challenges, they continue to deliver, adapting their approaches and drawing on local resources and networks. Understanding these models is key to designing more effective programmes and building stronger partnerships across contexts.
What I do
I support NGOs, INGOs and partners to apply these insights to programme design, partnerships and funding approaches, with a focus on strengthening how programmes are delivered in practice.
My work includes advisory support, research and insight development, connecting organisations with impactful locally led partners, and supporting engagement with investment and funding opportunities. I also deliver talks on programme delivery, partnerships and localisation in practice.
Through this work, I have built relationships across the ecosystem, from locally led organisations to NGO networks and senior stakeholders, supporting more connected and informed approaches to collaboration and partnerships.
